Leukemia society seeks Students of the Year

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society seeks applicants for its Students of the Year program.

Program participants will engage in a seven-week fundraising competition to generate donations for cancer research.

Fundraising will begin Jan. 11. The deadline to submit applications and nominations is today.

Mentor Tutor Connection recruits volunteers

Submissions open for student magazine

Los Altos High School student Mira Chiruvolu seeks submissions for The Hive, a literary magazine she recently launched to highlight and discover new writers, artists and authors from all over the world.

All genres and forms of writing (fiction, poetry, creative writing and journalism) and art (for the website and cover art) are eligible for submission.

MV nursery school sponsors 5K & Tot Trot

Mountain View Parent Nursery School has scheduled its annual Down by the Bay 5K & Tot Trot Nov. 4 at Baylands Park, 999 East Caribbean Drive, Sunnyvale. The Tot Trot will begin at 9 a.m. and the 5K at 9:35 a.m.

Cost is $35 for the 5K, $15 for the Tot Trot (ages 8 and under).
