Montclaire hosts e-waste drop-off site

Montclaire Elementary School is slated to host an electronic waste drop-off site 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 6 in the school’s front parking lot, 1160 St. Joseph Ave., Los Altos.

Eligible items include recyclable electronics, phones, wires, cables, TVs, laptops, desktop computers, CDs, DVDs, printers, monitors, metals, batteries, dishwashers, microwaves and lawn mowers (without gasoline).

A truck and helpers will be available to assist with recyclables.

Drop-off and disposal is free; a portion of the recycling proceeds will support the Montclaire Parent Teacher Organization.

MVHS recruits lunch volunteers

Mountain View High School’s Parent Teacher Student Association seeks parent volunteers to run the snack bar and pizza cart during lunch. The snack bar and pizza cart raise funds for student Senior Grad Night scholarships.

Shifts are once a month, and parents can sign up for as many shifts as desired.

Mentor Tutor Connection seeks volunteers

The nonprofit Mentor Tutor Connection seeks volunteer mentors for high school students and tutors for K- 8 students in Mountain View and Los Altos schools.

All volunteers must be high school graduates, and high school mentors must be at least 22 years old.

Living Classroom recruits docents

Volunteer docents are needed for the Los Altos School District’s Living Classroom pro- gram, which delivers hands-on, garden-based lessons to students throughout the school year.

Docent training is slated Monday mornings in the iLearn Studio, but apprentice-style training is available for volunteers who are not available Monday mornings.

No experience is necessary.
