Gardner Bullis marks 10th anniversary

Gardner Bullis School has scheduled a 10th anniversary celebration 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 8 at the school, 25890 Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills.

The family-friendly event, designed for students, teachers, staff, parents, neighbors and friends, will include a free barbecue lunch sponsored by the PTA, an inflatable Hungry Hungry Hippos game, campus tours, photo booths and more.

A brief ceremony is set for 1 p.m., with local groups recognizing the school’s accomplishments.

Living Classroom recruits docents

Volunteer docents are needed for the Los Altos School District’s Living Classroom program, which delivers hands-on, garden-based lessons to students throughout the school year.

Docent training is slated Monday mornings in the iLearn Studio at 201 Covington Road.

No experience is necessary.

MVLA Scholars seeks college prep mentors

MVLA Scholars, a program of Los Altos Community Foundation, seeks local residents willing to commit a year to shepherd high school juniors and seniors through the college application and scholarship process.

The students are in the Mountain View Los Altos Union High School District’s Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program, designed to prepare students for success at four-year universities.

Volunteer mentors meet the AVID students in class once a week and may spend additional hours outside of class. Each mentor will support one or two students.
