LASD trustees hold office hours
Los Altos School District trustees Jessica Speiser and Bryan Johnson have scheduled office hours to answer questions and listen to parents’ concerns.
Speiser’s office hours are slated 9-11 a.m. Feb. 14, March 8 and April 4 at Starbucks at Rancho Shopping Center, 654 Fremont Ave., Los Altos.
Johnson’s office hours are set for 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at The Colonnade, 4750 W. El Camino Real, Los Altos; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 27 at Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave., Room 2, Los Altos; and 9-11 a.m. March 3 and April 17 at Starbucks, 565 San Antonio Road, Suite 2, Mountain View.
LAHS hosts ‘Mindful Parent Night’
Los Altos High School has scheduled “Mindful Parent Night” 7-8:30 p.m. today at the school, 201 Almond Ave.
The local nonprofit organization Mission Be will conduct workshops to help parents understand the neuroscience of mindfulness and learn how to use mindful techniques to better communicate with their teens.
Since 2013, Mission Be has impacted more than 60 schools.
Mentor Tutor Connection sponsors open house
The nonprofit Mentor Tutor Connection is recruiting mentors for high school students and tutors for K-8 students in Mountain View and Los Altos schools.
An open house for potential volunteers is slated noon to 1 p.m. today in the Mountain View Los Altos Union High School District Office, 1299 Bryant Ave., Mountain View. Lunch will be provided.

Living Classroom recruits volunteers
The Living Classroom program is recruiting volunteer docents to help deliver hands-on garden-based lessons to students in the Los Altos School District.
A training session is scheduled 9 a.m. to noon Monday in the district’s iLearning Studio, 201 Covington Road, Los Altos.
