Applications are open for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Students of the Year program, which emphasizes youth empowerment, leadership development and philanthropy.
The program engages local high school students in a seven-week fundraising competition to support the fight against cancer.
High school students in public and private schools are eligible to participate. Professionals at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society provide guidance and mentoring.
Fundraising will begin Jan. 5. Results of the competition will be disclosed Feb. 24 at the Grand Finale Gala, a black-tie affair held at the Corinthian Grand Ballroom in San Jose featuring live and silent auctions, food and drinks, music, dancing, acknowledgment of the candidates and announcement of the Silicon Valley Student of the Year.
The deadline to apply is Oct. 27. Students may compete as individuals or in teams of two or three.
