Local students to share tech camp, leadership experiences at AAUW kickoff meeting

The Los Altos-Mountain View branch of the American Association of University Women is scheduled to kick off its membership year with a meeting focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math 3 p.m. Sunday at Neutra House, 181 Hillview Ave., Los Altos.

Local middle school girls who attended the Grace Hopper Science Camp at Stanford University this summer – on scholarships provided by AAUW and the Los Altos Rotary and Kiwanis clubs – will discuss what they learned at camp.

Two community college students who attended AAUW’s national leadership conference will share their experiences.

Gyanda Sachdeva, senior director of product management at LinkedIn Corp., will serve as keynote speaker. Sachdeva is a First Mover Fellow of the Aspen Institute, an innovation lab offering leadership development opportunities for entrepreneurs.

Admission is free and open to the public. Girls and friends and relatives of girls interested in STEM careers or women’s equity issues are encouraged to attend.

To RSVP and for more information, call Claire Noonan at 941-2843.
