Cathy LeLannic, a native of the Burgundy district of France, is the new chairwoman of the all-volunteer board of the Los Altos Art Docents.

The Los Altos Art Docents, who provide art lessons to elementary schools in the Los Altos School District, begin their 42nd year with a French flair.

Cathy LeLannic, a native of the Burgundy district of France, will serve as chairwoman of the all-volunteer art docent board for the current school year. Her supporting officers also reflect a French connection. Treasurer Virginie Forget is Parisian by birth, and Programs Chairwoman Katia Randleman is from Bordeaux.

“Without the art docent program, our students would lose most of their art training,” said LeLannic, a seven-year docent. “Without our students so eager to learn, the docents could not exist.”

The art docents plan to hold their annual Student Art Show at the individual elementary schools again rather than staging an all-district Student Art Show, previously combined at one site. Parents and children enthusiastically endorsed the new format, which was tested at several schools last year.
