Springer Elementary School has been selected as a 1997 project of the Christmas in April Mid-Peninsula organization. This Saturday, approximately 200 Springer parents and volunteers from sponsors Los Altos Kiwanis Club and El Camino Hospital will work to make repairs on the 42-year-old campus.
Christmas in April USA is a nationwide organization which forms partnerships between homes or community facilities, local businesses, and community volunteers.
Improvements to be made to the school include painting the facilities, building a shed for the kindergarten playground equipment, installing benches, trimming bushes, replacing or repairing doors, building and refinishing classroom bookshelves, installing bulletin boards, and repairing tanbark borders on the playground.
Many local business have also offered to help the project. The list of volunteers includes, Andronico's Market, which will be providing lunches for up to 200 volunteers, Hewlett-Packard Company, Bruce Bauer Lumber, Damian Landscape, Foothill Disposal, Kizer Construction, Pediatric Dentistry, California Paint, Dodd's Painting, Marshall Construction, and Lessers Mirror House in San Francisco.
