Youth Drama for All celebrates 10 years with new show in Mtn. View

Youth Drama for All students learn choreography for their new production, “Planet Fizz,” scheduled to debut Sunday at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts.

Although Youth Drama for All sprang from humble beginnings with an audience of 20 in a local living room, the inclusive theater troupe is scheduled to perform its 10th production Sunday at the 600-seat Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts.

The nonprofit Youth Drama for All aims to bridge the communities of general-education and special-needs students with theatrical performances featuring a cross section of students.

The Community School of Music and Arts and the city of Mountain recently unveiled a new exhibition – “A Line Runs Through It!” – featuring artwork created by faculty and students in CSMA’s Art4Schools program in local elementary and middle schools.

The display is scheduled to run through Feb. 28 in the Mountain View City Hall Rotunda, 500 Castro St. City hall hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Los Altos High Water by Youth club hosts 'Gallon Gala'

The Water by Youth club at Los Altos High School sponsors the “5 Gallon Gala” to raise money for the nonprofit Charity: Water, which aims to provide clean-water solutions to the developing world.

Supporting their mission to raise money and awareness of the world’s water crisis, members of Los Altos High School’s Water by Youth have scheduled their second “5 Gallon Gala” 7-10 p.m. March 11 at the Palo Alto Elks Lodge.

Water by Youth encourages students to fundraise in support of efforts aimed at bringing clean water to Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia and Latin America. To date, the group has raised more than $31,000 and contributed to the construction of six wells in Uganda, Malawi and Rwanda.

CSMA hosts student, faculty exhibition at Mtn. View City Hall

The Community School of Music and Arts and the city of Mountain are set to unveil a new exhibition featuring the artwork of students and faculty in CSMA’s Art4Schools program, which serves local elementary and middle schools.

“A Line Runs Through It!” is scheduled to run Feb. 1-28 in the Mountain View City Hall Rotunda, 500 Castro St.

Mountain View High hosts TEDx event Friday

Enlightenment is on its way to Mountain View High School students as the school hosts its second TEDx event Friday.

The independently organized event, licensed by TED, will feature student speakers, guest presenters and prerecorded TED Talks videos, all with the theme “To Boldly Go.”

Los Altos High hosts Marching Band Fall Finale for community

The Los Altos High School Marching Band and Color Guard is scheduled to perform this year’s field show, “Déjà Vu,” for the community Nov. 19.

Capping off a rigorous marching band season, the Los Altos High School Instrumental Music Boosters is scheduled to host the annual Fall Finale Nov. 19.

The Fall Finale is a celebration of the marching band season for students and staff, and a fundraising event for the Instrumental Music Boosters. The event includes a silent auction, holiday plant sale and baked-goods sale. The Eagle Marching Band and Color Guard will perform its 2016 competition show for the community. After the performance, audience members will be invited to join students on the field for a firsthand marching band and color guard experience.
