Students in the Los Altos School District are set to showcase their creativity at the Los Altos Art Docents’ Student Art Shows, scheduled 5:30-8 p.m. May 22 at Gardner Bullis School, 25890 W. Fremont Road in Los Altos Hills, and 6:30-8:30 p.m. May 22 at Santa Rita School, 700 Los Altos Ave. in Los Altos.

The exhibitions will feature student paintings, sculptures and mixed-media work created under the direction of the Los Altos Art Docents. The program brings lessons that meet California State Content Standards for the Visual Arts to kindergarten through eighth-graders at seven district campuses. The all-volunteer organization relies on docents who train for nine months before introducing art lessons to the classroom curriculum. To give students the opportunity to share their work, exhibitions are scheduled at participating schools every other year.

“The students love to show off their art work and get a sneak peek at lessons they will enjoy in the upcoming years,” said art docent Kristine Bardman.
