Students in Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and Mountain View traveled to school together on bikes and by foot Oct. 9, marking International Walk to School Day.

Representatives of GreenTown Los Altos and a host of local officials turned out in force as well, encouraging students to walk or wheel to school.

Participating officials included Los Altos Hills Mayor Gary Waldeck, walking with students from Los Altos Hills Town Hall to Gardner Bullis School; Los Altos Mayor Jarret Fishpaw, walking with Santa Rita School students from The Sweet Shop to their campus; Los Altos Hills City Councilwoman Courtenay C. Corrigan, walking to school with Bullis Charter School students; Los Altos City Councilwoman Jan Pepper, walking with students from Varsity Park to Springer School; and Los Altos City Councilwoman Jeannie Bruins, walking with Oak Avenue School students and greeting families as they arrived to school.
