A second case of the coronavirus at a local care facility was reported Monday.
A BridgePoint at Los Altos assisted-living patient received a “presumptive positive” result for COVID-19, according to executive director Maria Quintero.
“The resident’s family and healthcare authorities were notified immediately,” Quintero said in a March 23 letter to the public. “At this time, the origin of the exposure is unknown and on the advice of medical authorities, the resident remains quarantined in their apartment.”
Quintero said details on the patient and his or her condition “will be provided only by healthcare authorities.”
She said ongoing protocols include restricting visitation and monitoring residents and associates daily for temperature and respiratory symptoms.
“At this point in time, we will transition into a complete quarantine restricting all residents to their apartments until further notice,” Quintero added.
BridgePoint’s announcement follows a March 19 report from Los Altos Sub-acute and Rehabilitation Center of a 75-year-old male resident who tested positive for COVID-19. Covenant Care, which manages Los Altos Sub-acute, also noted it is following protocols to ensure the safety of other patients, visitors and staff.
Santa Clara County remains the hardest hit statewide with 542 confirmed cases and 19 deaths as of Wednesday (March 25).
