Hold the phone: Showalter pulling ahead in MV council race

Update: Results released at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 14), show the gap between third-place Pat Showalter and fourth-place Alison Hicks has shrunk to only 17 votes - 10,503 to 10,486. The latest results come with 89 percent of ballots counted.

After running behind for nearly a week after election night, the incumbent Mountain View councilwoman overtook Hicks late Tuesday afternoon by moving into third place behind Ellen Kamei and Lucas Ramirez for the last remaining council seat.

Early returns had Showalter running considerably behind, in fourth place, prompting local media (including the Town Crier) to prematurely count her out. But the councilwoman took the lead Nov. 13 and widened it to 53 votes over Hicks by the end of the day.

Incumbent Mayor Lenny Siegel is still running far behind in his bid for re-election.
