Two-alarm fire damages MV hotel

A two-alarm fire ripped through the vacant Tropicana Lodge on El Camino Real Sunday. No injuries were reported.

Mountain View firefighters extinguished a two-alarm fire Sunday night at the Tropicana Lodge, located at 1720 W. El Camino Real.

According to a fire department statement, responding Mountain View fire personnel discovered flames shooting from the front of the vacant hotel – slated for demolition. No one was in the building at the time of the blaze, initially reported at 6:24 p.m. No fire personnel were injured battling the fire.

Fire department investigators are in the process of determining the cause and origin of the blaze.
