Los Altos helped out the Mountain View Fire Department when it responded to an early morning mobile home fire on Jan. 13.

One unit in the Sahara Mobile Village was destroyed in the blaze, which is still under investigation but did not appear suspicious according to Mountain View Fire Public Information Officer Jaime Garrett.

Mountain View requested a battalion chief from Los Altos for the two-alarm fire. A second battalion chief can coordinate overall safety at the scene of a fire while the first battalion chief serves as incident commander. Garrett said that the close proximity of homes built from flammable materials drove the second alarm.
“Mobile homes, the materials and construction type, they are very, very flammable,” she said. “Anything above a one alarm fire we have to call for mutual aid resources.”

The Santa Clara County Fire department also responded to a passenger vehicle fire on Robleda Road in Los Altos Hills after a car collided with a power pole on Jan. 14.

He was helping out the Santa Clara County Special Enforcement Team, and discovered 250 pounds of marijuana headed out of state. Mountain View police reported that the seizure had a street value of $500,000.
The special enforcement team draws narcotics detectives (and dogs) from agencies throughout the county.
