Mountain View council OKs program for impacted renters

The Mountain View City Council members approved a $500,000 program to provide rent relief to tenants impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Council members, who green-lighted the program at their March 17 meeting, plan to implement it as quickly as possible to support impacted renters during the current shelter-in-place directive.

City spokeswoman Shonda Ranson said the city would provide additional information as soon as it is available.

“Mountain View will continue to work closely with community partners, including potential funders, to explore additional efforts to support members of our community, as well as continuing to seek emergency funds from county, state and federal sources,” Ranson said in a statement. “This includes evaluating options to assist our local businesses.”
