The Bus Barn Stage Company launches its production of “Bus Stop” this week in Los Altos. William Inge’s romantic comedy is scheduled to preview Thursday, open Friday and run through Feb. 21.
In the midst of a howling blizzard, a busload of passengers holes up in a roadside diner outside Kansas City. On the bus is a nightclub chanteuse named Cherie who is being pursued by Bo, a cowboy who wants to sling her over his shoulder and carry her off to Montana.
Overnight, the owner of the cafe and the bus driver begin a long-overdue friendship, an aging scholar learns a valuable lesson and love appears unexpectedly.
The play stars Robyn Winslow as Cherie and Charles McKeithan as Bo.
The preview is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., as is Friday’s opening-night show. Future performances are slated for 3 p.m. Sundays, 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Tickets are $22-$32.
The Bus Barn Theater is located at 97 Hillview Ave., Los Altos.
