Schola Cantorum, under the direction of Gregory Wait, has scheduled the final performances of its “Summer Sings” series 7:30-10:30 p.m. Aug. 1, 8 and 15 at Los Altos United Methodist Church, 655 Magdalena Ave.
The events are open to choral enthusiasts from around the Bay Area eager to sing the great masterpieces from the choral repertoire. The audience joins the chorus in singing. Schola Cantorum provides scores on loan for the evening. Songs include pieces by Mozart, Brahms, Verdi, Bach and Faure.
Wait, a senior lecturer and director of vocal studies at Stanford University, leads Schola Cantorum, an auditioned coed chorus that has presented concert programs for 48 years.
“‘Summer Sings’ are a no-pressure way to give your voice a fun workout and experience an exhilarating variety of conducting styles,” said Mary Powell, executive director of Schola Cantorum.
Tickets, $7-$15, are available at the door and online for a discounted price at www.scholacantorum.org. For more information, call 254-1700.
