PAHS donates to animals harmed by wildfires

The Palo Alto Humane Society donated $1,000 to two organizations rescuing and caring for animals affected by the Camp Fire in Butte County.

North Valley Animal Disaster Group and the Center for Animal Protection & Education are helping the many animals that have sustained burns, are suffering from smoke inhalation and/or require emergency medical care.

Los Altos Public Works director resigns


Susanna Chan, Public Works director for the city of Los Altos, resigned last week, with her last day scheduled Friday.

Chan recently accepted the position of assistant general manager with the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District.

Safe route task force meets Monday at Homestead HS

The first community engagement meeting on the Homestead Corridor Safe Route to School Study is scheduled 6-8 p.m. Monday in the Homestead High School library, 21370 Homestead Road, Cupertino.

A task force whose job is to identify traffic concerns and possible solutions along the Homestead corridor leads the study. The corridor is the stretch of road between the intersection of Grant Road and Foothill Expressway in Los Altos and the intersection of Homestead Road, Hollenbeck Avenue and North Stelling Road, including entry and exit points. The task force aims to create a safer path for students traveling along the route to West Valley Elementary School, Cupertino Middle School and Homestead High.

Road work begins on First Street

Residents can expect traffic delays along First Street Tuesday through Thursday next week as the city of Los Altos undertakes a road-resurfacing project along First between West Edith Avenue and State Street.

PG&E work causes Los Altos Hills traffic delays

A PG&E gas main installation project in Los Altos Hills is underway and expected to impact traffic in town for approximately two months.

Affected areas include southbound El Monte Road between Interstate 280 and O’Keefe Lane, and O’Keefe between El Monte and Normandy Lane, according to a town-issued notice.
