Self-driving car pilot company schedules community forums

Waymo, the self-driving car project once managed by Google Inc. that branched off into an independent startup, has scheduled two community forums in upcoming months to share details on how the program is faring, offer a preview of what’s to come and host a question-and-answer session enabling residents to weigh in with their thoughts on the technology.

Company representatives will visit Los Altos Hills Town Hall, 26379 W. Fremont Road, with a vehicle on display 6-8 p.m. Sept. 5. The same presentation is scheduled 12:30-2:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at Grant Park Community Center, 1575 Holt Ave., Los Altos.

Waymo cars have driven more than 8 million miles in California, Washington, Arizona, Texas, Georgia and Michigan, according to the company’s website. California has the most test cities, with five of the 15 falling in Santa Clara County.
