LASD engages company for bond survey
Los Altos School District trustees Dec. 9 unanimously approved a contract with EMC Research to begin drafting questions for a survey assessing the prospects for a bond measure.
The district has been working with TDWB Strategies to explore the feasibility of placing a bond measure on the ballot in 2014 to raise funds for additional facilities for the district, as enrollment continues to expand.
Superintendent Jeff Baier said the next step is to develop questions for a phone survey of likely local voters to gauge the likelihood of a bond passing.
Los Altos city offices close for holidays
City hall and Hillview Community Center are scheduled to close between the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The Los Altos City Council in early October approved the holiday closure schedule, which begins Dec. 24 at 3 p.m. and runs through Jan. 1.
Schedules for emergency city services remain unchanged through the holidays. The Los Altos Police Department, Fire Department and the city’s Maintenance Services Department will be open and operational.
The city’s regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, resume Jan. 2.
