Police conclude months-long burglary case

Los Altos police arrested five suspects from Nov. 18 to Jan. 25 for breaking into a Russell Avenue home during daylight in October and stealing a laptop, jewelry and a vehicle. The owners were not home at the time.

Police arrested San Jose residents Octavio Alatorre, 33; Diana Edlin, 48; Roxane Garza, 25; Adrian Hernandez, 32; and 31-year-old Milpitas resident Amber Phillips.

Police located the abandoned vehicle near the burglarized home. Los Altos Police Capt. Andy Galea said the suspects were acquaintances and that Garza was related to the victims’ housecleaner and had done some housecleaning at the location herself.

The five suspects face felony charges of burglary and stolen property. Phillips and Garza face unrelated narcotics charges.

Galea said investigators used stolen credit card charges to help identify the suspects.
