Man critically injured in Mountain View night club attack

Mountain View Police Department detectives are seeking tips from the public to identify the man responsible for assaulting a night club patron and, as he tried to flee the scene, striking another victim with his vehicle.

Multiple witnesses called the MVPD at approximately 1:40 a.m. Monday (April 26) to report the incident, which unfolded at the Monte Carlo Night Club, a Latin dance club on Castro Street, according to a department press release. They told police the suspect struck a 48-year-old man in the head with an unidentified object, rendering the victim unconscious. Security guards chased the suspect from the club into a rear parking lot, and he jumped into a light-colored Audi sedan.

It was while reversing the sedan that the suspect hit the second victim, a 24-year-old man trying to intervene, with the vehicle, according to the release. The second victim was also punched in the face at one point, but the release does not indicate whether the suspect is considered responsible for that assault.

The 48-year-old victim remains in critical condition, the release stated. Police reps were unaware of the extent of the 24-year-old’s injuries.
