Los Altos police responded to AJ Tutoring on Fremont Avenue this morning after a female student arriving for her appointment drove her car through the reception area of the business.

Agent E. Nava reported that no one was hurt after the driver crashed through the storefront at approximately 10:19 a.m. Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident, including the possibility that the young driver accidentally accelerated or the Tesla malfunctioned.

The driver is cooperating with police, according to Nava, who added that drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor at this time.

AJ Tutoring co-owner Aaron Andrikopoulos told the Town Crier that he feels “really lucky” that no one was hurt.

“Our regional director was in the office working with a student in one of our back rooms,” he said of the scene. “I got a picture from the director of the Tesla sitting in the middle of our lobby. What scares me is if it was (the afternoon), there would have been six or seven students sitting there.”

AJ Tutoring has two locations in Los Altos, at 1000 Fremont Ave. and 301 S. San Antonio Road.
