Mountain View employee shot during carjacking

A Mountain View tire shop employee is recovering from injuries sustained Saturday (Feb. 2) during a carjacking involving gunfire.

The male suspect – still unidentified as of Thursday – shot an America’s Tire employee in the leg; the victim is in stable condition, according to the Mountain View Police Department.

The incident unfolded at approximately 11:30 a.m., according to a police department press release. The suspect approached two employees and stole a vehicle at the business, located at 32 W. El Camino Real, near the Grant Road/Highway 237 intersection. Officers who arrived on scene applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg to help with the injury. The victim was transported to the hospital.

“He’ll be perfectly fine,” said an America’s Tire employee Thursday. The employee would not comment further.

The police department declined to release additional details about the investigation but classified it as “very active.”
