The accident took place at approximately 3:30 p.m. Monday (Feb. 5) on Central Expressway at North Shoreline Boulevard when the officer’s motorcycle collided with a car, according to police reports. The officer was the only person injured.

“Our officer is in good spirits,” police spokeswoman Katie Nelson wrote in an email sent Thursday. “He suffered moderate injuries, but I don’t know if he has been discharged from the hospital yet.”

The collision forced the shut down of both eastbound lanes on Central Expressway for approximately one hour Monday, according to police. Drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the case, which remains under investigation.

As of Thursday, no one had been cited or arrested, and Nelson noted that the civilian driver has cooperated with police.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call Sgt. Bryan Albarillo at 903-6733.
