Mountain View Police Department detectives have arrested a board member of a local afterschool organization after students accused him of inappropriately touching them.
Detectives arrested Cupertino resident Yizhuang “John” Liu, 26, on Saturday (Feb. 3) in connection to crimes he allegedly committed at Sanyu Learning Center, an organization on Springer Road that offers Chinese-centered, after-school programming. He faces six counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 with force and one count of continuous sexual assault over a period longer than three months, according to police reports.
The parents of at least two afterschool participants have reported Liu to police since Friday. They said their sons told them Liu had touched them inappropriately over the course of several months.
In addition to serving on Sanyu’s board of directors, Liu volunteered at the organization, according to police reports. It is possible he communicated with victims through a gamer’s social media application known as “Discord.”
