A Los Altos Police Department vehicle was involved in a three-car collision at approximately 9 a.m. Jan. 24, according to Sgt. Ryan Burke. The collision, which occurred at Foothill Expressway and El Monte Avenue, involved an officer, and no one was transported to the hospital, Burke said.

The vehicle, left, sustained damage and had to be towed. The crash closed one lane of Foothill, causing traffic to back up from El Monte to Loyola Corners, according to a Town Crier reporter stuck in traffic. A crew towed the vehicle and removed the debris, below. No further details about the cause were provided.

Burke said the Los Altos Police Department will not be involved in the investigation for transparency reasons – the Mountain View Police Department will handle it.
