Police search for suspects in Walgreens robberies

Los Altos Police detectives are reviewing surveillance video to uncover the identities of two men who robbed the downtown Walgreens Thursday night.

At approximately 8:20 p.m., two men wearing hoodies entered the store, located at 303 Second St., jumped over the pharmacy counter and doused a pharmacist with pepper spray, according to police reports. The men left with prescription medications, including codeine.

A week before, Los Altos Police officers warned store employees about an armed robbery that occurred Sept. 30 at the Walgreens pharmacy at 121 E. El Camino Real in Mountain View, but the two cases are not considered related, said Los Altos Police Department Sgt. Ryan Burke.

“I wanted to give them a heads-up because people like that often hit one or two (pharmacies) in a row,” Burke said.

Anyone with information on the Los Altos or Mountain View incidents is asked to call the Los Altos Police Department at 947-2770 or the Mountain View Police Department at 903-6395.
