MV stabbing results in attempted murder charges

A stabbing that led to the temporary closure of Phyllis Avenue in Mountain View Feb. 27 has resulted in attempted murder charges for a Palo Alto man and hospitalization for the victim.

Mountain View Police detectives arrested Paul Goldman, 55, who is being held without bail at the Santa Clara County Main Jail, according to a department press release. As of March 1, the department had not identified the victim or released any information about his or her status other than to report that the person suffered from at least one stab wound.

The incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on the 1100 block of Phyllis Avenue, and the road was closed between Hans Avenue and Pamela Drive until at least 11:35 p.m., police reports stated. Detectives detained and arrested Goldman as he attempted to leave the area.

Goldman and the victim “did know one another, however this was an isolated incident and there is no threat whatsoever to public safety,” according to the release.
