A 52-year-old male cyclist from Palo Alto was killed Tuesday (Nov. 3) morning after a collision with a vehicle on Page Mill Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident between the cyclist, Jeffrey Donnelly, and a black Volkswagen Golf occurred at approximately 6:50 a.m. near the intersection of Page Mill Road and Christopher Lane, according to the CHP.
The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old Palo Alto man, was not injured in the crash, according to CHP.
"At this point, it looks like for unknown reasons, the bicyclist left the right side of the roadway and traveled across the #2 and #1 lanes where he was struck by the VW within the #1 lane," wrote CHP Officer Art Montiel in an emailed statement.
Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to have been a factor in the crash, Montiel said. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with investigators.
