Residential burglaries

April 28, 10:10 a.m., 100 block of Newcastle Drive: An unknown suspect pried open the garage door of a home under construction but did not steal anything.

May 1, 5:01 a.m., 300 block of Lunada Drive: An unknown suspect entered a home through an open garage door and stole several laptops found on the first floor. The suspect entered an upstairs bedroom and encountered a male resident who had been sleeping. The resident yelled at the burglar, who promptly fled the residence.

May 1, 9:22 a.m., Alma Court: An unknown suspect entered the home via an unlocked garage door and stole a purse located under the seat of the resident’s vehicle. The loss was valued at $250.

May 1, 4:55 p.m., 300 block of Blue Oak Lane: An unknown suspect entered a home sometime during the night and stole a wallet from the kitchen. The victims later told police that they were unsure how the suspect entered the home, noting that they either left their garage door open or left the garage door opener in their unlocked car.

May 2, 7:15 a.m., 300 block of Fountainbleau Terrace: An unknown suspect entered a home through an unlocked garage door and stole an iPhone, iPad, laptop and cash from the victim’s wallet.

May 3, 9:49 a.m., 300 block of South Gordon Way: An unknown suspect entered the home overnight through an open garage door and stole two bicycles with a combined value of approximately $4,000.


April 29, 9:38 a.m., 1600 block of Austin Avenue: A male driver was cited and later released by police for obstruction in an incident sparked by license plates. According to police, a patrol officer spotted an occupied vehicle and attempted to contact the driver about a license-plate violation. The driver exited the car and walked away from the approaching officer, placing a suspicious item in his mouth and swallowing it while heading toward the front door of a residence. The officer promptly took the man into custody and cited him for obstructing a police officer plus the vehicle-code violation.

Vehicle burglaries

April 29, 6:53 p.m. and 7:13 p.m., 100 block of North San Antonio Road: An unknown suspect smashed the passenger window of a rental car parked near Armadillo Willy’s restaurant and stole a backpack containing a laptop valued at approximately $2,000. A second vehicle parked in the area was burglarized when someone smashed its rear passenger window and stole a purse. The loss was estimated at approximately $1,500.


May 1, 12:13 a.m., South El Monte Avenue and Foothill Expressway: A 22-year-old female Mountain View resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after police initially stopped her for a moving violation. The driver was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

May 2, 1:19 a.m., El Camino Real and Rengstorff Avenue: Police arrested a 21-year-old male driver for driving under the influence of alcohol and booked him into the Santa Clara County Main Jail. The arrest came after police pulled him over for a moving violation.

Auto theft

May 1, 5:35 p.m., 4900 block of El Camino Real: A resident contacted police and reported that someone stole his 2006 Infiniti. According to police, the victim had not driven the car for the past two months and wasn’t sure which day it may have been stolen. He told police that his girlfriend owed a debt to some unknown associate who may have had access to her set of car keys.
