Woman arrested for possessing stolen mail
Los Altos Police last week arrested a 34-year-old woman after discovering that she was in possession of mail stolen from several homes in addition to property stolen from a nearby unlocked vehicle.
According to Los Altos Police Sgt. Scott McCrossin, an officer approached Renee LeGrande after spotting her near the intersection of Austin and Richardson avenues at approximately 4 a.m. Dec. 3. During his conversation with LeGrande, he determined that her explanation for being in the area at the time “just didn’t match up.” McCrossin added that she was also in possession of burglary tools at the time of the encounter.
LeGrande was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges that include possession of stolen property, petty theft and possession of burglary tools. Her bond was set at $12,000.
Dec. 4, 1:28 p.m., Magdalena Avenue and Dawnridge Drive: Police arrested a 20-year-old Los Altos Hills man for driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was cited and later released by police.
Dec. 6, 5:58 p.m., 200 block of Portola Court: An unknown suspect forced entry into the garage of a home construction site and stole a box of new doorknobs and other items.
Dec. 8, 9:34 a.m., 600 block of Cuesta Drive: An unknown suspect kicked in the side door of a home’s garage and unsuccessfully attempted to enter the main portion of the house.
Solo bike accident
Dec. 7, 11:20 a.m., Foothill Expressway and South Springer Road: A 17-year-old female cyclist refused medical attention after sustaining shoulder, wrist and elbow injuries from a single-person bike crash.
