Mountain View Vice Mayor Ellen Kamei was next in line to become the city’s mayor for 2021 at the city council’s Tuesday reorganization meeting, held after the Town Crier’s Monday print deadline.

Kamei, first elected in 2018, was set to succeed 2020 mayor Margaret Abe-Koga.

Both Mountain View and Los Altos have elected council members, with members taking turns in one-year stints as mayor.
