County recruits volunteers for contact tracing

Santa Clara County is recruiting a large pool of volunteers for COVID-19 case investigation and contact tracing.

Team members will interview cases, call potential contacts, enter and manage data, and identify resources needed to assure appropriate follow-up and compliance with isolation and quarantine.

Contact-tracing volunteers must be willing to serve 32-40 hours per week for a minimum of six months, and preferably for one year. Volunteers must have access to high-speed internet and a computer; excellent attention to detail; excellent customer service/interpersonal skills; and strong data entry, typing and word processing skills.

The county prefers volunteers with some knowledge of health coaching and medical terminology – doctor, nurse, medical assistant, nursing or medical student, paramedic, EMT or health educator.

Volunteers must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, and have strong written and verbal communications skills. The county especially needs volunteers fluent in Spanish, Vietnamese and Chinese.

To volunteer and for more information, visit or City staff will make the referral to the County Contact Tracing team.
