Los Altos city spokeswoman makes quiet exit this week

Los Altos city spokeswoman Erica Ray has accepted a position as public information officer with the San Jose Fire Department, a city staff member who wished to remain anonymous told the Town Crier recently.

Ray confirmed her departure in an email late last week, noting that Oct. 8 was her final day on the job. She spent it celebrating the groundbreaking of the new Los Altos Community Center with fellow city staff members and local residents she had worked with during her nearly seven-year stint with the city.

“I have truly enjoyed my time working in Los Altos and getting to know the community,” she said. “Los Altos lives up to the small-town charm it’s known for, and I’ll miss being greeted with friendly ‘hellos’ by familiar faces while traveling around town.”

Ray said she is grateful for the “many professional opportunities the city has provided” and is proud of the public information program she established since joining the city in 2012. She worked on various projects, including the launch of the city’s website redesign in 2013 and an update in 2017, and spearheaded the effort to establish a social media presence for the city and the police department.

No replacement has been named for Ray. As of the Town Crier’s press deadline, the job was not listed on the city’s employment website.
