Local Arts Roundup: May gallery exhibitions in Los Altos feature diverse array of artists

An exhibition of photography artist Bill Scull’s work, “Reflections: Reality Abstracted,” is on display this month at Gallery 9. The show runs through June 2.

An artist’s reception is scheduled 5-8 p.m. Friday at the gallery.

Rotary Club's art contest salutes local student talent

As part of the Los Altos Rotary Club’s annual Fine Art in the Park event, the club sponsors the Young at Art contest for student artists from seven local high schools.

The winning artwork is currently on display in Los Altos at Boston Private Bank, 345 S. San Antonio Road; Bank of the West, 176 Main St.; and Nature Gallery, 296 State St. The art also will be exhibited in the Lincoln Park gazebo during Fine Art in the Park, scheduled 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 18 and 19.

LAH Town Hall displays artwork

"Dissolving Sunset” is among several works by Timon Sloane on display at Los Altos Hills Town Hall.

Timon Sloane’s solo art exhibition “Breaking Skies“ is on display through September at Los Altos Hills Town Hall, 26379 W. Fremont Road.

An artist’s reception featuring live music, refreshments and wine is scheduled 2-5 p.m. Sunday at town hall.

Choreography competition winners named ahead of dance festival

The International Dance Festival@Silicon Valley recently named the winners of its Choreography Competition, who will perform their premiere works at the Festival Concert, scheduled 3 p.m. May 19 at the Mountain View Masonic Center, 890 Church St.

The Choreography Competition is open to artists whose work features movement or any kind of dance.

Los Altos History Museum opens evenings in May for special activities

The Los Altos History Museum plans to open its doors 5-8 p.m. Wednesday evenings in May for special programs as part of its Membership Month drive.

The extended hours highlight the museum’s strategic plan to offer programming to adults and families who are otherwise unable to attend during the day, and encourage participation as members.

The Town Crier and Baskin-Robbins in downtown Los Altos recently honored the winners of this year’s Easter coloring contest. The winners in the 4-6 age group are: Lakshmi Khurana, first place; Kate Jensen, second place; and Maya Sheffield, third place. The winners in the 7-10 age group are Sofia Colace, first place; Connor Daniel, second place; and Krish Khurana, third place.
