The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), an international civil rights organization, will present YouTube CEO and Los Altos resident Susan Wojcicki with its Torch of Liberty Award at an ADL fundraising event scheduled 6-9 p.m. Oct. 18 at a private location in Woodside.
The award recognizes Wojcicki’s “innovative leadership as a woman in technology and her commitment to address gender bias and discrimination in the tech community,” according to a statement from the ADL. “Throughout her career, Susan has been a vocal proponent of gender equality – from denouncing discrimination and overcoming stereotypes in her own life to advocating for the expansion of paid family leave and empowering women to join the tech industry. She has been a stalwart leader for social justice in the tech community.”
ADL officials said Wojcicki has used her position to speak out on behalf of “fair treatment for all. … In her role at YouTube, she and her team are working harder than ever to maintain an open platform for free speech and expression, unfettered by hatred and extremism.”
Event registration is open through Oct. 17.
Tickets are $350.
