Los Altos author Robin Chapman’s “California Apricots: The Lost Orchards of Silicon Valley” (History Press), published in April, has vaulted into the top 10 of the publisher’s 1,200 titles, sending it into a second printing six weeks after publication.
Chapman is scheduled to discuss her book 2 p.m. July 7 at Los Altos Hills Town Hall, 26379 W. Freemont Road. The event, free and open to the public, will include a book signing and an “all-apricot reception.”
Kepler’s Books, 1010 El Camino Real in Menlo Park, will host Chapman for its Arts and Lectures program 7:30 p.m. July 30.
Chapman, a Los Altos native, returned to her hometown a few years ago after a bicoastal career as a television journalist, including a stint at KRON-TV in San Francisco. She said she is overwhelmed by the book’s reception.
“I knew I had an affection for the orchards,” she said, “but this response has been great. It is really gratifying.”
