Los Altos Hills artist Ry Smith offers a fresh perspective on a French farmhouse. His artwork is on display at town hall.

The oil and acrylic paintings of Los Altos Hills resident Ry Smith are scheduled for display through September at Los Altos Hills Town Hall, 26379 W. Fremont Road.

An artist’s reception is slated 2-5 p.m. Sunday at town hall.

Smith’s career inventing and designing industrial products influenced his exhibition, “By Design.”

His paintings reflect the clean lines and simplicity inherent in his industrial designs, for which he won many awards. In his paintings of boats, landscapes and other subjects, Smith reduces complexity to simplicity with an emphasis on shape and color, interpreted in a personal way.

Smith’s artwork has appeared on the cover of Consulting to Management magazine and in Art and Business News. His works have been displayed on the website of Stanford Investment Group, at Harmonic Inc. in Sunnyvale, at city hall in San Mateo, at Main Street Gallery in Weaverville and in galleries in Burlingame, San Mateo and Carmel.
