Downtown Los Altos’ parking needs are the topic of a forum scheduled Oct. 11 at Hillview Comunnity Center.

The city of Los Altos has scheduled a forum for residents on the Downtown Parking Management Plan 7-8:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at Hillview Community Center, Room 16, 97 Hillview Ave., Los Altos.

The forum is one in a series targeting various groups. The city is seeking additional feedback from property owners and retailers, said Kathy Kleinbaum, economic development coordinator.

“This forum is intending to be for the residents,” she said. “We really want their input.”

The meeting will offer an opportunity for community members to share their ideas on parking in the downtown area.

The forum will include information about a downtown parking study the city is currently conducting to determine how plaza parking stalls are used.

“We’re really trying to look holistically at downtown parking,” Kleinbaum said.

The review includes an assessment of short- and long-term needs and the possibility of increasing the number of spaces. It also examines the city’s current parking management practices.

Beyond automobile parking, the city’s study considers elements like future bicycle parking needs and placement of charging stations for electric vehicles.

For more information, call Kleinbaum at 947-2620.
