Los Altos Forward, the downtown boosters group, has scheduled a Community Conversation with Jerry Sorensen, a 30-year Los Altos resident and consultant to cities and developers, 5:30-7:30 p.m. July 11 at The Bike Shop, 359 State St.
With the theme, “Is Los Altos Dense? Keys to unlocking downtown vibrancy for all Los Altans,” the discussion will center on answering such questions as: What can the community do to breathe life into the downtown? What metrics can be used to evaluate the health of a downtown?
Sorensen and his brother, Ted, have been at odds with the city over their three-story downtown building proposed for 40 Main St. The project has become a focal point in the debate over downtown height restrictions.
The Los Altos City Council recently rejected the Sorensen project unanimously, but the brothers indicated they will press on.
Los Altos Forward, a project of the Los Altos Community foundation, comprises volunteers trying to promote vibrancy in downtown Los Altos.
The group facilitates Los Altos First Fridays and Los Altos Community Conversations.
