Eichler homes are the focus of a new exhibition.

The Los Altos History Museum will explore the legacy of Joseph L. Eichler’s architectural vision in its new exhibition, “Eichler Homes: Modernism for the Masses,” scheduled to open April 29 and run through Oct. 8.

A public opening reception is scheduled 5-7:30 p.m. May 5. Kirk Abe’s Jazz Trio will perform.

The show will include photos, Mid-Century Modern iconic furniture, memorabilia and the history of Eichler’s impact on the Bay Area between 1949 and 1974. Eichler’s grandson, Steven Eichler, served as curator of the exhibition.

Eichler Homes, as the company was known, built more than 10,000 residences in the Bay Area and approximately 900 in Southern California.

The Los Altos History Museum is located at 51 S. San Antonio Road. Hours are noon to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays. Admission is free.
