100 Women Charitable Foundation schedules dinner to disburse $172.5K in grant funding

The 100 Women Charitable Foundation has scheduled its annual dinner and voting event 5:30-9 p.m. March 6 at the Crowne Plaza Palo Alto, 4290 El Camino Real.

The foundation will donate $172,500 to local nonprofit organizations this year. Six grant finalists will give presentations to members, who will vote to award three impact grants of $47,500 each.

The remaining finalists will receive investment grants of $10,000 each.

This year’s grant finalists are 10 Books a Home, Operation Freedom Paws, the St. Francis of Assisi Youth Club, Star Vista, Sunday Friends and WANDA.

The 100 Women Charitable Foundation launched in 2006 with 100 women who donated $100 each. The group has grown to include a membership base of 559 women who raised $172,500 in 2014. Over the past eight years, the foundation has awarded nearly $1 million in grants. Volunteers run the organization, so 100 percent of member contributions are donated.

“Our Grant Evaluation Committees worked all last fall to review proposals, research, conduct site visits and perform due diligence to narrow down their choice to a few deserving agencies,” said Teri Zingale, co-founder of 100 Women Charitable Foundation. “We are now excited to provide the grant awards at the voting dinner. These donations will make a big impact in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.”

The event is open to members and prospective members.
