First Friday is scheduled 6-8 p.m. Friday in downtown Los Altos.

The Los Altos Forward-sponsored event, featuring the theme “April Foolish,” will offer residents the opportunity to browse and shop at 50-60 retail stores and galleries, many of which offer discounts and free refreshments; and eat at one of the nearly 20 restaurants serving a variety of cuisines. Local musicians will play at various storefronts. First Friday includes games and prizes

“In order for more merchants to join our efforts, (local residents) need to be a part of making First Friday financially successful,” said event co-coordinator Carol Garsten, owner of Nature Gallery at 296 State St., which will serve as First Friday headquarters.

Garsten is co-coordinating the event with Jamie Lucia of Los Altos Community Chiropractic.

Los Altos Forward, a program of the Los Altos Community Foundation, is a volunteer group dedicated to promoting vibrancy downtown. First Fridays are designed to provide fun, social and community-building evenings for local residents
