Local advocates proposed a simple concept for improving the vibrancy of downtown Los Altos at a May 9 “Sit and Share” event: outdoor furniture.
Robin Katsaros, chief organizer of the “Sit and Share” initiative, described how well-designed, weather-resistant furniture can create social spaces and encourage visitors to linger downtown. Furniture includes couches, chairs and tables with orange umbrellas.
“Sit and Share” supporters have already placed furniture in front of the Costume Bank and Linden Tree Children’s Books on State Street. They are collecting donations to put additional furniture at locations such as in front of Chase Bank at the corner of Main and Third streets.
Los Altos Forward and the Los Altos Community Foundation support “Sit and Share.”
