Shoreline Lake hosts all-inclusive Paddle4Good events

The Shoreline Lake Boathouse & American Bistro in Mountain View has scheduled two PaddleTogether events, aimed at bringing the special needs, volunteer and paddling communities together for a half-day, with the goal of making a difference for people who might typically not get to enjoy water sports.

Hosted by the Santa Cruz-based nonprofit Paddle4Good, the events will provide inclusive on-the-water activities for people of all abilities, including stand-up paddling, kayaking and other paddle sports, as well as lawn games and an awards ceremony.

CSA celebrates ‘Hometown Heroes’

Community Services Agency’s “Hometown Heroes” breakfast is scheduled 7:15 a.m. Sept. 12 at the Computer History Museum, 1401 N. Shoreline Blvd., Mountain View.

“Hometown Heroes” is an annual fundraiser honoring individuals, businesses and organizations for their contributions to CSA and the community. CSA provides a safety net for thousands of elderly, low-income and homeless individuals in Mountain View, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills each year.

World Affairs opens series with 'Russia Resurrected'

The Peninsula Chapter of World Affairs is scheduled to kick off its annual speaker series with the program “Russia Resurrected: Its Power and Purpose in a New Global Order” Sept. 22.

Kathryn Stoner, deputy director of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University, will discuss Russia’s re-emergence on the world stage and its role in it.
