San Antonio Hills Inc., the homeowners association serving the unincorporated areas of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills, has scheduled its annual meeting 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at Los Altos Golf & Country Club, 1560 Country Club Drive.

Foothills church sponsors affordable housing forum

Foothills Congregation Church has scheduled an affordable housing forum, “Moving Beyond Impasse,” 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in the church’s sanctuary, 461 Orange Ave., Los Altos.

The forum will feature local experts sharing strategies and actions regarding affordable housing needs, availability, financing and legislation in Los Altos and Mountain View.

MV history group features talk on old theaters

The Mountain View Historical Association has scheduled the presentation “Movie Theatres of the South Bay and Peninsula,” featuring movie theater historian and author Gary Lee Parks, 1 p.m. Sunday at the Historic Adobe Building, 157 Moffett Blvd.

Parks, author of “Theatres of San Jose” and co-author of “Theatres of the San Francisco Peninsula,” will deliver an illustrated lecture highlighting the history of local movie theaters. He has assisted in the preservation of historical Bay Area theaters as both a professional and a volunteer.

Library hosts SV Reads program on mental health

Silicon Valley Reads featured author Mark Lukach is scheduled to appear in conversation with KCBS newscaster and author Jeff Bell 7 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Los Altos main library, 13 S. San Antonio Road.

Lukach is the author of “My Lovely Wife in the Psych Ward,” an inspirational memoir about a young couple dealing with the effects of mental illness on their marriage and lives.

League of Women Voters' Mtn. View forum addresses people living in vehicles

The Mountain View-Los Altos League of Women Voters has scheduled the forum “Why Are People Living in RVs and Campers on the Streets of Mountain View?” 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Mountain View Senior Center Multipurpose Room A, 266 Escuela Ave.

The forum will explore who is living in their vehicles, why and the impact on city services and neighborhoods. Speakers will discuss the challenges Mountain View faces and how the city can balance the needs of the struggling population with the concerns of residents.

GreenTown Los Altos has scheduled the presentation “We Have Clean Electricity, Let’s ‘Switch’ to Using It” 7 p.m. Thursday at the Los Altos main library, 13 S. San Antonio Road.

Don Bray of Silicon Valley Clean Energy will share the latest news on programs that promote fuel switching to help residents use clean, renewably generated electricity and forgo burning fossil fuels.
