E3 Youth Philanthropy open to new members

E3 Youth Philanthropy, a program of Los Altos Community Foundation, is accepting applications through March 30 from students entering 10th or 11th grade in the fall.

E3 aims to educate, engage and empower local youth to create positive change in their local communities. Students who live in Los Altos, Los Altos Hills or Mountain View and/or attend school in one of the cities are eligible to apply.

Hidden Villa, TC offer writing contest

Hidden Villa and the Los Altos Town Crier have partnered to co-sponsor a writing contest for all ages.

The prompt: Describe an experience at Hidden Villa that helped you see the world in a different way.

Essays should be no longer than one page, single spaced in a 12-point font.

Prizes will be awarded to winners in three age groups: 12 and under, 13-17 and 18 and over.

The first-place winner in each age group will receive a Hidden Villa Season Pass and have their essays published in the Town Crier.

Second- and third-place winners will each receive three free day passes.

Museum cancels Saturday events

In response to Santa Clara County’s recommendation to cancel events for large groups amid the coronavirus outbreak, the Los Altos History Museum has suspended Saturday’s ceremony celebrating the renovation of its restored tank house and the opening of its latest exhibition.

“In the Fields of the North/En los Campos del Norte,” the museum’s new exhibition about migrant farm workers, runs through June 21.

The Los Altos History Museum Board of Directors will evaluate whether to proceed as planned with other community events scheduled in March.

LAH photography exhibition set to open

Jim Colton’s photography exhibition “Distant Lands” is scheduled for display Friday through September 30 at Los Altos Hills Town Hall, 26379 W. Fremont Road.
