Steve Swatt and Susie Swatt, authors of “Paving the Way: Women’s Struggles for Political Equity in California,” are scheduled to appear 7 p.m. today at the Los Altos main library, 13 S. San Antonio Road.
The Swatts are speaking as part of the library’s Silicon Valley Reads 2020 program. They plan to discuss the dramatic personal stories of some of the mostly unsung and long-forgotten women who challenged traditional concepts of femininity and helped shape California’s public landscape.
Steve Swatt is a veteran political analyst and public affairs executive. Susie Swatt is a member of the National Advisory Council of the Institute of Governmental Studies at UC Berkeley.
In recognition of the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage in the U.S., Silicon Valley Reads 2020 commemorates the achievements of women – from the tenacious individuals who worked to get women the right to vote in the early 1900s to the women and girls in the 21st century who are breaking gender barriers to excel in all areas of life.
Admission is free and open to all.
